James Lee Byars: The Mile-Long Paper Walk (1965/2014), Four in a Dress (1967/2014): Dress for Two (1969)
September 7, 2014
Three of James Lee Byars’s (American, 1932–1997) most influential performance works will be presented at MoMA, building on his long history with the Museum. The performances, held in conjunction with the MoMA PS1 exhibition James Lee Byars: 1/2 an Autobiography, highlight Byars’s innovative work in fabric, costumes, and paper, which include key performative dimensions. The Mile-Long Paper Walk will be performed by Jimmy Robert (French, b. 1975); it was originally performed by Lucinda Childs (American, b. 1940), who provided choreographic instruction for this performance.
